Carefully refurbished to a high standard, this cottage has been sympathetically designed to accentuate the building’s original purpose as a grain store. The building is over 300 years old and there are beautiful exposed oak beams throughout, giving the cottage a characterful yet comfortable feel.
The kitchen and dining area is fully equipped and includes hob, extractor fan, microwave with grill over, fridge, compartment freezer, kettle, toaster and dishwasher. There is a table and chairs for dining. We’ll leave you a welcome pack with bread and butter, fresh milk and tea and coffee.
The Granary has one large double bedroom which is situated on the ground floor, and the spacious bathroom has a shower, wall-hung basin, toilet & heated towel rail. Towels are provided.
Upstairs, and running the whole length of the cottage, is the living room, with a lovely oak beamed vaulted ceiling, original oak floor, and stylish log burner. There is a huge cosy corner sofa, perfect for snuggling down after a long day exploring the countryside, and for watching the large flat screen TV. Free wifi is available; running speed is 100mg.
Just outdoors is a sitting area, where you can enjoy eating al fresco. There are easy walks directly from the property. Ample parking is available.
We regret that we cannot allow dogs: however, there may be two small, friendly dogs belonging to the owners in the vicinity.
In West Chiltington village to the south, there’s a 13th century church, with ancient wall paintings, and the village has many beautiful old houses, original “stocks” and a windmill. Several pubs nearby serve good food and Sussex ales. There is a farm shop and a butcher. The world famous Nyetimber sparkling wine is produced just outside the village, with many acres under vine.
Storrington village is only a few minutes drive away with its cafes, restaurants, independent stores and Waitrose supermarket; Storrington Museum is well worth a look, as is the Elizabethan Parham House and Gardens.
We are only 15 minutes from the South Downs National Park, with endless walking opportunities and fantastic all round views. Close by towns and villages to visit are Petworth and Arundel, where you’ll find independent stores, boutiques, restaurants, antiques shops and markets.
The Goodwood estate is 30 minutes away, and is the venue for some of the most famous sporting events in the U.K. - the Goodwood Revival and the Goodwood Festival of Speed (motorsport), and the Qatar Glorious Goodwood Festival (horse racing) Golf, aviation and the health club and spa can also be enjoyed at Goodwood.
The cities of Guildford and Chichester can both be reached in around half an hour by car, and Brighton in about 40 minutes. There is a local train service 3.5 miles from the property.
Gatwick airport is 40 minutes away and London just over an hour by train.
