East Wittering Beach is a sand and pebble beach but only a short distance away is the West Wittering award winning sandy beach. The village has an abundance of local shops, restaurants , cafes and takeaways as well as excellent travel links to Chichester train station. 

This is a simply beautiful stretch of the South Coast. West Wittering Beach itself is owned by local people, having been originally bought up by an action group in the 1950s to stop developers turning the area into a holiday complex. The owners raise the money needed to maintain the beach, water and on-site facilities (such as the Beach Café) through the car parking charges and it is a tribute to their hard work and community spirit that West Wittering has been awarded the prestigious Blue Flag for many years.

If you want to be active on your beach holiday, there is so much to do in the local area, including bird watching, walking, cycling, swimming, windsurfing, sailing and flying kites. Nearby the beach at Bracklesham Bay  has a mixture of both sand and shingle and is especially popular with surfers, divers, windsurfers and paddle boarders as well as being a treasure trove for fossil hunters
