Hayling Island is a 12 square mile area of land that is completely surrounded by the sea and accessed by a road bridge from Langstone. The island has a reputation for its watersports –windsurfing was actually invented here – and miles of glorious seafront.

The Island is well served by shops, most of which are clustered in the three main villages of Mengham (pronounced “Men-jam”), West Town and Eastoke Corner. As you might expect from such a family-friendly place there is plenty to do here with children. One of the biggest attractions is the Funland Amusement Park at Beachlands, which has everything from roller coasters to a games arcade and a soft play area. The Hayling Seaside Railway that runs from Beachlands to Eastoke Corner is equally popular, as is the 6,000 ft adiZone Outdoor Gym (also at Eastoke Corner) which has all kinds of free equipment for youngsters to use. If you enjoy watersports the local water is perfect for sailing, windsurfing, power boating, jet skiing and more. There are miles of well kept beaches to enjoy (the Beachlands beach has received the international Blue Flag award every year for the last 25 years) and you can feast your eyes on the stunning views across the Solent while you tuck into a traditional fish and chip supper.
