The cottage is Grade II listed and dates back hundreds of years, with the first formal records of it dating from 1606. It was lovingly restored over a 2 year period by previous owners, using traditional building materials and techniques, in conjunction with the English Heritage. Some of this work is visible through viewing panels in the cottage and it won a Conservation Award in 2008. The cottage can also boast a 4-star rating from the English Quality in Tourism scheme. The accommodation consists of a cosy sitting room with a wood-burning stove for the chilly winter evenings and a TV with FreeSat channels. There is a well equipped kitchen, which includes a slim-line dishwasher. The double bedroom is a particular feature, with its exposed beams and its bed with its foot board made up from old stocks! There is a further bedroom with bunk beds and a modern style wet-room with shower, wash basin and toilet.
