Ocean Cottage is a beautifully refurbished, detached 100-year-old property just yards from the peaceful shoreline of Ferring beach and the much-loved Bluebird Café. Full of character and warmth, this charming and slightly quirky cottage has been lovingly updated for 2024 and offers everything you need for a relaxed and memorable seaside stay.
Sleeping up to six guests across three bedrooms, including two king-size rooms and one twin, the cottage is ideal for families or friends looking for a coastal break with space to unwind both indoors and out. With two bathrooms, a large west-facing garden, and even a private rustic bar in the converted garage, Ocean Cottage offers a unique and well-equipped home-from-home just moments from the sea.
The ground floor includes a welcoming porch, cosy living room, sunlit dining area, fully equipped kitchen, and two of the three bedrooms. One is a king-size room with a convenient walk-in shower and separate WC, and the other is a comfortable twin room. The living room is a lovely place to relax, with two vegan leather sofas, footstools, cushions and throws, a 55-inch Samsung Smart TV, Bluetooth speaker, DVD player, and a selection of books, cards and board games to keep everyone entertained.
The bright sun room overlooks the garden and features a dining table with bench and chairs for six. There's also a cosy reading nook with a few books available to borrow or swap. From here, you can step straight out into the garden, where there's ample space for outdoor dining and relaxing in the sunshine.
The kitchen is fully fitted with everything you need for a self-catered stay, including a dishwasher, washing machine, electric double oven, hob, microwave, kettle, toaster, Tassimo coffee machine, and a large American-style fridge freezer. A DAB radio with Bluetooth function provides music while you cook.
Upstairs you'll find a third bedroom – the pink room – with a king-size bed, two cocktail chairs and a small table overlooking the garden. There's also a bathroom with a shower bath on this floor. The pink bedroom has space for a travel cot if you're travelling with a baby.
A unique highlight of Ocean Cottage is the converted garage, transformed into a rustic, speak-easy style bar with atmospheric lighting, an island bar, stools, and lounge chairs – perfect for laid-back evenings or a fun gathering at home.
The generous west-facing garden is ideal for sunbathing, lounging or enjoying a BBQ on a warm day. The cottage also offers off-street parking for two to three cars on the driveway, as well as an EV charger (Type 2, untethered 7kW – additional charges apply).
Located in the heart of the lively and welcoming village of Ferring, you’re within walking distance of everything you might need – from beachfront cafés and cocktail bars to an organic butcher, delicatessen, tapas restaurant, and local shops. The village hosts regular community events, live music, and comedy nights, giving you a true taste of Sussex seaside life.
Ferring beach is loved by paddle boarders, kite surfers and families alike, and remains pleasantly uncrowded even in peak season. You could easily spend a week or more enjoying everything the village offers without needing to travel far. But if you do want to explore, nearby destinations include Brighton, Arundel, Chichester, Goodwood, Steyning, Littlehampton and the South Downs.
The cottage is close to bus routes into Worthing, and the nearest train station is Goring-by-Sea. For walkers, there are beautiful flat routes along the coast and across the river, with more adventurous trails leading up to Highdown Hill and beyond into the South Downs National Park.
